Heisei 29 United Graduate School of Agricultural Science Graduation Ceremony Announcement
Heisei 29 United Graduate School of Agricultural Science Graduation ceremony announcement.
March 15, 30
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Hiroyuki Ohno
Today, congratulations to all of you who have completed the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology United Graduate School of Agricultural Science PhD program and received your Ph.D. degree. On behalf of all the faculty and staff, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations.
In the 29th academic year, a total of 41 students were awarded doctoral degrees, including 16 Department of Biological Production Science, 7 Department of Applied Life Science, 10 Department of Symbiotic Science of Environment and Natural Resources, 2 Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, 1 Department of Science on Agricultural Economy and Symbiotic Society, and 5 doctoral dissertations. After years of hard work, you have finally earned your doctoral degree, and you will be filled with a sense of accomplishment. Praise yourself for doing a good job without being discouraged. However, while it is important to praise yourself, please also express your deepest gratitude to your family, friends, and associates who have supported you in various ways during your studies at our university. When you say that you have people around you who are grateful, it means that you are supported by many people, which is actually a very happy thing. All of us would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and respect to those who have supported your growth, and we would like to share the great joy of today's sunny day.
Today, I would like to congratulate you on your degree, but there are other things that I have gained while I have been a student, other than my research achievements. This includes friends and acquaintances. Human networks will become more and more important and useful in the future. A good companion is a treasure for a lifetime. You are not alone, but you are active in a group with your individuality while being mutually stimulated. The same is true in the world of chemistry. For example, water is liquid at room temperature and pressure, even though it has an extremely low molecular weight of 18. This is due to the fact that multiple intermolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonds are at work. Methane, which has a similar molecular weight, has extremely weak interactions, so it is a gas at room temperature and pressure, and diffuses quickly. I believe that living in such a way that you can mutually influence your friends and acquaintances will enrich your mind and give you peace of mind and various stimuli. Even if you go out into society, please make many friends and acquaintances. As the name suggests, this United Graduate School of Agricultural Science that you have learned about is a collaboration between the three universities in education and research. We provide an environment with different personalities for each of us, and we nurture you as a large-scale doctor. Agriculture is not only a fundamental discipline, but also very important for humanity and the earth itself. Many of the problems that will arise or are already in crisis will have to be solved by you. In order to keep this global environment healthy, it is your mission to make use of what you have learned so far and take on the challenge of unsolved issues.
Will I be disconnected from the university when I graduate? Not at all. It would be great if we could maintain a stronger bond and build a relationship that inspires each other. In the future, when you come back to our university for school festivals and Homecoming Day, please tell us what you have done since graduation. We will continue to strive to be your alma mater a "home of the heart" that you can be proud of, and to support you at any time. Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology faculty and staff will work together to continue our efforts to become a competent university that is useful to the world and recognized by the world.
I would like to conclude my remarks by congratulating you on the conferral of your degrees today and wishing you all the best in your future endeavors and endeavors.
